Eight ways to see a map

Clustering, hexbin density, flow arcs, 3D buildings, spotlight, time trail, patterns and label priority on real data.

01Clusters

893 airports grouped into Spatly ring marks sized by count (cluster radius 48 px until zoom 9). Click a cluster to zoom into it; single airports keep the circle style.

04Flow arcs

Flow arcs

Great-circle arcs from origin/destination fields between the 40 busiest airports and eight hubs. A dash marches along each arc (the Marks flow affordance), arrowheads mark the destination, colour ramps by flights per week. Motion pauses when the tab is hidden and freezes under reduced motion.

053D buildings

3D buildings

Istanbul from the basemap's building layer, extruded by render height with token-driven colours. Buildings are a beat property, on from zoom 13.

06Spotlight

Spotlight

A spotlight highlight dims the whole map around the Marmara provinces and draws them on top with a glow, for a "this district" moment.
