What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help provide a better browsing experience and allow certain functionalities. Spatly also uses related browser storage (localStorage, sessionStorage) to remember editor preferences and to avoid double-counting a page view.
What Cookies and Storage We Use
Essential
Required for basic platform functionality:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | User session. Keeps you signed in to Spatly Studio (HttpOnly, Secure). | 30 days |
| sp_ws | Remembers which workspace you last opened. | 1 year |
| sp_pw_<id> | Set only after you enter the password of a password-protected published surface; scoped to that surface. | 30 days |
| sp-draft, sp-menu-key | Editor memory (localStorage): unsaved annotation drafts and the last-used menu. | Persistent |
| viewer session id | A random per-tab identifier (sessionStorage) so the analytics counter of a published surface does not double-count a reload. | Session |
| _ga, _ga_<id> | Google Analytics 4. Measures how visitors use our marketing site and the Studio app so we can improve them. Not set on customer-published surfaces (/s/) or embeds. IP anonymised; advertising signals off. | _ga up to 2 years; _ga_<id> up to 2 years |
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 on our own marketing pages and the Studio app (spatly.io) to understand traffic and improve the product. Google Analytics sets the cookies listed above; we enable IP anonymisation and disable advertising and personalisation signals. We do not run any analytics or advertising cookies on customer-published surfaces (spatly.io/s/...) or in embeds, so your readers are not measured by us. Aggregate read counts of a published surface are computed server-side from anonymous view events, with no third-party cookie placed on the reader’s browser.
Third-Party
Set by our service providers only in the situations described:
- Paddle: Payment processing cookies during checkout and in the subscription portal. See Paddle’s cookie notice.
- Google: Sign-in cookies set by Google only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
- Map tile providers: Basemap tiles are loaded by your browser from OpenFreeMap, Esri, AWS and OpenTopoMap; these requests carry no Spatly cookie.
Managing Cookies
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:
- Block all cookies
- Delete existing cookies
- Allow cookies from specific sites only
Note: Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using the platform properly: you will not be able to stay signed in or open password-protected surfaces.
Legal Basis
Essential cookies are used based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; KVKK Art. 5(2)(f)). Any analytics or third-party cookies we introduce in the future will be used based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; KVKK Art. 5(1)) and this page will be updated first.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and KVKK, you have the right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time, request information about stored cookies, and object to data processing. Contact us at support@spatly.io for any cookie-related inquiries. Our Privacy Policy describes your rights in full.
Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with the update date.
